Here is a sneak peek at the next purse I'm making. Fabric is cut, just needs to be sewn together now.

A Bitty Bib

With some of my leftover purse fabrics, I put together this little baby bib. It is double sided, but due to my poor lighting, the reverse side photo was terrible so I left it out. I need to get a better light, and/or take day time photos. The more projects I do, the more I realize where my sewing skills are lacking. I mean it looks fine, but there are a few imperfect stitches. I really want to take a sewing class. And an upholstery class. And a furniture making class. And a frame making class. And... the list goes on.

Happy Birthday Damian!

On Saturday we celebrated our dear friend Damian's turning of another decade. His lovely wife Sarah organized a golf theme, complete with a golf ball cake, and "preppy golf apparel" contest. It was great fun. Here is the birthday boy with his cake.

On the far left is me, in my "costume" of the best I could find in my closet (I won a delish cookie and toy plastic golf clubs for the getup). Next to me is Ryan, Luke and Heather Ballard (sporting the glove), Damian Weiss, and Mike Condie.

Mural Plans

Ryan has been wanting me to do a mural in our house ever since we moved in. He started pushing for it again, and we do have a perfect kids toy room for it, so I roughed up these sketches. These would possibly cover 4 walls, although I haven't measured (obviously I'm not toooo serious about it yet) so the proportions are surely off. And yes, there are a few spots that need filling in or cleaning up, but this is just my first sketch. The coloring would be softened 70's colors. Maybe someday I'll post a colored comp.

Baby Stuff

My sister Patti may be having her baby any day now, as it turns out. She is currently about 7 weeks from the due date. So to help her along in the early rush of readiness, I made this onsie (just the elephant part, duh). Don't worry Tanya, I'll make your baby something soon too.

Satin Clutch

This week's project was a deep olive green matte satin clutch. That's a lot of descriptors. I started with a simple pattern, which I discovered to be pretty vague. So I had to make my own adjustments in order to get the proper finishes, including hand stitching the lining in. If I were to do it again, I think I could avoid the hand stitching. Just takes a little more planning. But you can't tell it was hand stitched--the threads are all hidden.
$20 if anyone wants to buy it.

Cell/iPod charging station

Made this last night, based on the red & white one I saw online. I wanted one that would be less noticeable so I just used a neutral colored cardstock. It's nice to keep the cords all collected instead of scattered all over the counter.
Also started on another purse...

I love birds!

Birds are everywhere, in so many ways, and I'm loving them all!

Easiest Headband Ever

I found this idea on this blog. I just used a cute piece of ribbon and it took about 10 seconds to complete the project. The possibilities are endless.

Purse-onality

I finally finished my purse! Well, almost.... I still need to add a big button to the flap. I had so much fun making this pattern and sewing it all up! And I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. Fabric is by Joel Dewberry and was purchased at Elaines Quilt Block in SLC.
